                   Health Educator

Duties and responsibilities:  A health educator is someone who educates people about health. Their main duty is to help individuals and communities make better healthy lifestyle choices. They involve in collecting and analyzing to identify community needs in order to plan and monitor programs to encourage healthy lifestyles. They develop and maintain working relationships with agencies and organizations who are interest in public health care. They develop health education training and community presentations.  

Salary:  $41,380 USD

Education: A bachelor’s degree is the minimum requirement, however a master’s degree is highly recommended in most schools. Students in this field tend to take classes in human development, psychology, and social work. They also must complete and pass an exam administered by the National Commission of the Health Education Credentialing, Inc.  After completing this exam, he/she must complete 75 hours of continuing education during a 5-year time frame in order to maintain certification.

Demand for this profession:  12% of job growth per year. There’s a need for this profession.
Reflection: I am not quite sure if I want to be a health educator, because they usually traveled many places without  rest due to the fact that they need to educate about healthy lifestyle choices among everyone. But then I will like to open people’s mind about health.
