              Medical Assistant

Duties and Responsibilities: A medical assistant basically a well-trained person who helps a doctor. Some of their responsibilities consist of taking medical histories and record vital signs of patients. They complete clinical tasks in the offices of physicians, hospitals, and other healthcare facilities. They manage patient’s medical records, file insurance forms, schedule appointments and arrange clinical procedures such as x-rays.  They keep equipment operating by following the operating instructions. One of their biggest duties is to prepare patients for examination by performing preliminary physical tests; taking blood pressure, weight, and temperature. They also schedule surgeries appointments if needed.

Salary: $14.06 per hour; $22,087-$38,873

Education: The first step for the education that is required is required is to earn a high school diploma or pass the General Educational Development examination. The next step is to pursue on-the-job training or complete a program in medical assisting. A person can learn the skills you need through a two-year associate degree program or a one year certificate , or a diploma program that is available in community colleges. Degrees you might consider is associated in Science in Medical Assisting.

Demand or need for this profession: Employment in this field are expected to grow by at least 34% through 2018. As the demand for medical assistants increases, the outlook is even brighter.

Reflection: I don’t think I would like to be one, because I would like to aim for higher medical careers such as a pediatrician.
