                  Medical Scientist

Duties and Responsibilities: A medical scientist is a specialist in which they design and conduct studies to investigate human diseases and various strategies to prevent and treat them. According to study.com, medical scientists develops new medical breakthroughs that benefit humanity. They conduct research aimed at improving overall human health. They usually obtain clinical trials and other “investigative methods” to reach their findings. One of their duties is to prepare and analyze medical samples and data to investigate causes and treatment of toxicity , pathogens, or chronic disease. One of their main responsibility is to create and test medical devices, because they will constantly use it their daily life as a medical scientist.

Salary:  $ 82,240 USD

Education: The education that is required to become a medical scientist is not quite complex. Some students typically pursue a bachelor’s degree in biology or chemistry. Also they typically take courses that develops communication and writing skills, because they must learn to write grants effectively and publish research findings. Another option is to enter a Ph.D programs which can be very useful. Overall, the only requirements is to have a high school diploma and a Doctoral or professional degree.

Demand or Need for this profession:  The average outlook for this profession is an increase of 8% from 2014 to 2024. Therefore, there should be no demand nor need for this profession.


Reflection: I think I would like to be a medical scientist, because I am very interested in the medical field. It is interesting how the medical scientist have so many fascinating.
